I’ve spent more time in Copenhagen than ever thought I would. While I am by no means a local, having spent about 5 months there total, give or take, with 3 months being spent all in a row one summer, I’ve used that time to extensively explore the city and find all of my favorite spots. Some of these recommendations are obvious choices – the most popular tourist destinations in the city – and others are hidden gems that I’ve come to love. As will be true with all my guides, feel free to use this as a baseline to work off of while still doing your own exploring, as I find that is the best way to get to know a city.
Juno the Bakery – Founded by chefs from Noma, widely regarded to be one of the best restaurants in the world, Juno is at the top of many lists when it comes to bakeries in Copenhagen. Their cardamom buns are, in my opinion, the best in the city and they truly live up to the hype. If cardamom buns are not your thing, their vanilla swirls, cinnamon buns, rhubarb pastries … honestly everything … are all delicious. They only serve drip coffee, so if lattes are your preference you’ll have to get caffeinated elsewhere. It is a small place, only with outdoor seating.
Roe Bar (Louise Roe Gallery) - amazing croissants and even better vibes. This store is half interior design shop and half cafe, where all of the cups, bowls, and utensils are from the brand itself (I actually liked the mugs so much I bought one and use it every morning, still). This is a very aesthetic and instagrammable location to the point that, during fashion week, it is reliably full of models who will undoubtedly post the sleek interior on their Instagram stories.
Audo Copenhagen - Similar to Roe Bar, Audo is also an interior design shop with a lovely cafe. The main difference though being the extent of the store – it is actually one of my favorite Scandinavian design brands. Truly lovely items, I have a candle from the store in my room as I write this, and the cafe itself is just as nice.
